Who’s excited for the World Cup? Yes, I am! There’s plenty of brand new kits which you can be wearing for the competition this year, but if the modern 2018 shirts are not your style, Umbro has came up with the answer. The iconic football kit maker has released it’s Umbro Summer Projects collection, and it’s brilliant!
Any fan of football or 90’s culture will be instantly taken back to the good old days of football, and in particular that infamous Summer of Italia 90. Umbro have created these tops which have clearly been inspired from the early 90’s tops, with countries like Spain, Belgium, Russia, Italy, France and of course, England being represented.
I love the design. Everything about them shouts Umbro football design from the 90’s. From the collar to the trim on the sleeves, to the the tonal pattern print within each shirt. If you are a fan of 90’s clothing brands, even if you don’t like football, these are the shirts to be seen in this Summer.
The designs come with complimenting colour striped patterns which denote the country they’re representing, and a number on the front in the breast position.
There are two other shirts which were released earlier, both England inspired designs. I love these, which definitely bring back memories of the 1990 World Cup. There’s the England home shirt, and the jazzy England 3rd shirt, which was blue and white. Although England hardly ever wore this shirt, it became a cult favourite, and a reminder of the decade in which England came close to winning the World Cup; Something they’ve never been close to since.
So if you were a fan of the golden era of football, and some would say football fashion, you can grab yourself one of these tops instead of the current official shirts. They’ll set you back £45 each.
There’s also the shorts to compliment each one of the nine shirts above. If it’s just Umbro style you want to embrace, logo tees are also available, in retro style of course, and come in at £25.
