Unless you’ve been living under a rock or you just don’t care, you’ll know that the Super Nintendo Classic Mini was announced a few days ago, and once again Nintendo has got people excited!
It has only just been officially announced by Nintendo and not released, and it’s immediately sold out. Nintendo had it up on their site which lasted a few minutes before it sold out, it sold out at Amazon, and Game has some pre orders available, and now they’re gone too.
What is the Super Nintendo Classic Mini?
It’s the SNES, but a small, miniaturised version, with some pre installed games, 21 in total. You may remember me talking about the rumours about the Super Nintendo Mini a while back, it looked like a no-brainer for Nintendo to bring this back due to the demand and hype around the NES, and everyone is happy that they have.
It comes on the back of the NES Classic Mini which I got last year, and I have to say I love it. It’s a great piece of kit, and brings back the memories 🙂
SNES Mini Classic Games
As mentioned there are 21 games included. In my rumour post I listed 14 or so games which I thought could be included if it ever materialised, and I did guess 7 correctly, which were pretty obvious. The favourites which are Super Mario World, Super Mario Kart, Zelda, Street Fighter 2, F-Zero, Star Wing (Star Fox) and Donkey Kong are all included, sadly Super Mario Bros All Stars seems to have missed out. An unreleased Star Fox 2 will be officially released for the first time ever. The full list of games are:
- Contra III: The Alien Wars
- Donkey Kong Country
- EarthBound
- Final Fantasy III
- F-Zero
- Kirby Super Star
- Kirby’s Dream Course
- The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
- Mega Man x
- Secret of Mana
- Star Fox
- Star Fox 2
- Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting
- Super Castlevania IV
- Super Ghouls’n Ghosts
- Super Mario Kart
- Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars
- Super Mario World
- Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island
- Super Metroid
- Super Punch-Out!!
Pre Order Snes Classic Mini
Now you’re excited you want to know where to pre-order it. Well everywhere is sold out, even though it’s not actually released, all shops have sold out of the pre-orders. The only thing you can do is to keep checking the shops, pay attention to social media and get lucky. There is light at the end of the tunnel. First of all Nintendo has stated that they’re making more of the SNES Mini available, much more than the NES Classic Mini which came last year. Pre-orders may be sold out at the moment but that is only the first allocation. More shops will get more stock, and then there’s always waiting until the release date, where you may be able to get one. Shops which are known to be stocking this are:
Amazon
Smyths
Game
Very
ShopTo
I think the best best is Amazon. They seem to have the most stock most of the time, their website is really easy to use, and they don’t usually charge you until their have dispatched the item.
Super Nintendo Classic Mini Release Date
The release date for the SNES Mini is 29th September 2017 in the UK, and the RRP is set at £69.99.
