I watched the BRITS yesterday as I usually do each year, but they never seem what they used to be. These days the shows always seem a bit drab, boring, too scripted and nothing exciting ever really happens…But The BRITS 2020 was a good one!
There were performances from Mabel who opened the show, Lewis Capaldi, Harry Styles, Lizzo, Dave, Billie Eilish, Stormzy, Celeste and the show closed with Rod Stewart with Ronnie Wood and Kenney Jones.
Most of the performances were pretty good, with Dave’s performance being one of the highlights of the show. Visually it was great, with hard hitting verses including calling out our PM as a racist.
Then there was the host, Jack Whitehall. He’s a funny guy, but in the past the BRITS has seemed a bit too clean cut and some of his comedy has gone down like a lead balloon in previous years. But this year it was really good and well received, especially the segments with Lizzo and Harry Styles.
In the past there’s been some epic moments in the history of the BRITS, the 90’s was a special decade and probably the best in terms of memorable events and controversy. But this year it definitely delivered, and was the best BRITS in recent times.
