Last Night In Newcastle – St Paddy’s Day 2012
Hello blog!
Wow I have not posted all day. I was out in Newcastle last night, and it was a pretty good night. We went to a few different places that we don’t usually go to, to mix it up….Some of the places are not my scene but I like to go to different places because I get bored of the same old stuff. We went to Town Wall, Mimo, Jalou, Baby Lynch, Cosey Joes, Fleet Street, The Lodge and Ground Floor. Quite a few places! LOL!! Cosey Joes and Fleet Street are not really my thing, but they were alright I suppose 😛 Newcastle was packed because of St Paddy’s Day, so many people out, plenty wearing hats and green and things like that. O’Neils actually had a massive queue outside, something you’d NEVER normally see!
We were into Mimo and it absolutely STUNK! What is it with some of these bars that smell? There are a few which do, I could barely drink my drink it was so bad. I don’t understand why they don’t do something about the smell, it has put me off from going.
They had a sign which was already defaced, I took a pic for my Instagram…
We went to Jalou which used to be Destination, now it has a more “up market” feel to it, well apart from the alcohol. I asked for a Corona he said they don’t have that they have Desperado. I asked for a Budweiser he said we don’t have that we have Budvar. I got bored of asking so I had a vanilla vodka and Coke, which cost £6.40! Quite expensive. It may of been a double, the guy said something and I didn’t hear and just said “yeah” so maybe it was The pints were £4 and normal vodka and Coke over £5. I don’t really understand the places which try to be upmarket and have high prices, but sell rubbish/cheap vodka and bottles of beer. £6.40 is fine for a double of good brand vodka, like Absolut, but not generic cheap vodka.
Ended the night in Ground Floor, it was getting late in the night and it was only across the road from where we were, and I was so tired had to go home, via Subway and a turkey Sub of course 😉

It is that time of the year again, Christmas so it means Fenwicks window. There were a few people there today, so I did not get a good pic close up, but here are a few pics for you. I may update it later with more pics. It is a generic christmas theme again this year 🙂

Geordie Dictionary by Michael
Since Geordie Shore is coming, I thought I would write a dictionary for the Geordie you might hear 😀 Everyone knows some Geordie words, like Haway the lads and Byker Grove, and yes, people ask me to say those things all the time on holiday
So, I thought I would make a dictionary/translator type of post, so if you watch Geordie Shore you will know what they are saying, or if you are just interested in the Geordie accent and dialect.
I will give you some words and some sentences. I will write most phonetically, since its slang/dialect there probably isnt really a “correct” way of spelling for some words. p.s. many are taken from old norse, as are some Scandinavian words, so they are similar to some Scandinavian words too 🙂
What do these Geordie Words Mean?
So you’ve probably heard lots of Geordie words, phrases, language and sayings so you’re probably wondering what they mean. Here is a little list to get you started on what the words mean. Bear in mind that as with all words, they can mean different things, depending on the context which they are used.
Alreet – Alright. (usually means hello/how are you)
aaal – all
Bairn – child, kid. (pronounced like bear-n with a soft N)

Reet – Right
Sel – Self e.g. I am here by me-sel. me-sel = myself

Newcastle Fashion Week 2011 – Schedule
Newcastle Fashion Week is fast approaching, with events, teasers andthings already happening around the city now. I did ask the PR people to email me some things and keep me updated, but they dont seem to be the most professional of people, they sent 2 low quality images and a press release, but no further updates. There was a cool feature in Fenwicks window which I could have featured, unfortunately nobody from their PR told me and it was yesterday – Not very impressed.

Fenwicks Window 2010
Fenwicks in Newcastle is famous for its Christmas window. It sometimes has themes, I think this year they just went for a generic Christmas type theme.
Here are some pics, they aren’t the best, there were loads of people at the window as you would expect. Its big, so I took a few shots of the different “scenes”.
As always there was the standard glare from the windows, but I have tried to get the best photos I could from the day.
These few shots were taken from my phone, so not great quality, but you can still get a sense of the Christmas Window at Fenwick this year.
