Which is better - Windows or Mac for Bloggers

It’s a question and debate which has raged on for years, and it will probably continue to do so until the end of time. Everyone has their opinion, most have a preference, so I will be talking about which is best? Apple Mac or PC.

It’s a general computing question, but it’s also one bloggers often talk about, there’s always rumblings in the blogosphere about which is better, with everyone giving their less than experienced opinion.

Having a fashion blog like Michael 84 I want something not only powerful but stylish too. Design is important, Macs have them, but these days so do PC laptops too.

Kokorico By Jean Paul Gaultier Fragrance Review

Kokorico by Jean Paul Gaultier Review

So the last fragrance review I wrote about was the underwhelming BANG! from Marc Jacobs, and this time round I am talking about a scent which I do like and have owned since 2012, it’s Kokorico from Jean Paul Gaultier.

Jean Paul Gaultier is well known for one scent, Le Male. It’s the one in the green-blue bottle which is body shaped, and is well known for most guys. Le Male is one of those scents which is so well known, loved and used by so many guys, including myself.

I love that scent, and for those who aren’t big fragrance fans, they’ll just associate Jean Paul Gaultier as that one scent, but of course there’s a few more from the brand. In 2011 Kokorico came around, and I decided to grab myself a bottle.

Speaking of the bottle, it’s once again a distinctive shape, and comes well packaged. The bottle comes in a circular tin, painted red with the branding on too. I really like good packaging, I think it’s something which can set a brand apart from a regular old standard brand, to one which really cares about their products.

As for the bottle, it can be upstanding, and is the shape of a face in a profile form, with the Kokorico branding to the front.

What does Kokorico By Jean Paul Gaultiersmell like?

As for the scent, it’s very nice and pleasant. On a night out a girl said, “I can smell man” which is a good summary of what this fragrance is. It’s a masucline scent, but not in the old fashioned, traditional sense.

It’s from a more refined school, with just the right hints of woody notes, it’s subtle, but you know it’s there. It is a good one for an evening, for a night out, and I think works well in any season, but will shine in the colder months of Autumn and Winter.

This is a scent which I really liked for a time, but it didn’t have that special something. It’s a perfectly good fragrance, but I don’t think it will ever be one of my all time favourites, although I can recommend it if you’re looking for an evening scent which not too many people will be wearing.

Best season to wear – Autumn/Winter
Scent type – Woody/Spicy/Warm
Age Recommendation – 18+
Best Worn – Evening, Casual, Formal

Top Notes – Fig Leaf

Middle Notes – Patchouli, Cacao

Base Notes – Virginia Cedar, Vetiver

What do you think of Kokorico from Jean Paul Gaultier? Let me know if you love or hate this. As always you can get more advice and reviews in the fragrance blog, where I have a huge collection of scents featured.

What Is Raw Denim? A Beginner’s Guide & The Differences Between Washed & Dry Denim

What Is Raw Denim? A Beginners Guide To Raw Denim

It’s a term you may have heard if you’ve been looking for a pair of jeans.

What is raw denim?

Raw denim is denim which is untreated and has not gone through a wash process. It’s also called dry denim, and is the purest form of denim for a pair of jeans. Raw denim is usually solid, with no distressing or rips.

The idea is you get the untreated denim and with your own wear and tear, create your own imprint in the denim over time.

For the purpose of this guide we’ll say there’s two different types of denim; Raw denim, which is sometimes called dry denim, and washed denim.

These two terms are quite self explanatory, with raw denim being unwashed and washed being, well washed.

Here’s an in depth beginners guide on raw denim.

Red Oaks TV Show On Amazon Prime Video

Wednesday, 4th October, 2017

I have found a new favourite TV show!

So I got Amazon video a while back and was having a hunt for things to watch, and came across this show called Red Oaks. I hadn’t heard of it before, but it sounded like something I would enjoy, so I watched an episode and I loved it straight away!

It’s actually been around since 2014, but obviously new to me. They’ve finished season 2 and season 3 is just about to begin, and sadly it will be the last season, but I’ll save my sadness for when that time comes and just enjoy it for now 😀

I have watched the first season and I loved it. It is set in the 80s and centres around one boy called David who works at a posh country club in the Summer, and is a college student at NYU. He’s your average student who isn’t rich, still lives with his parents and doesn’t have a car. He’s a tennis coach at the country club, along with tennis pro and senior coach Nash.

It’s all about the characters though. His girlfriend also works at the club, as does one of his friends who also deals drugs on the side, and has a storyline with Misty, the lifeguard at the club.

Although David has a girlfriend he’s been developing a relationship with another girl who hangs around the club, who just so happens to be the rich president of the country club, while his girlfriend has been developing a relationship with Barry, a creepy photographer.

If you have Amazon Video you have to give this a watch! It’s so good with enjoyable storylines and characters. If you like coming of age stuff or TV set around 80s pop culture, this is it! 🙂

Finally Got A SNES Mini Classic

I got a SNES Mini! 😀

I am so happy that I was able to get one. Just like the NES Mini Classic which was released last year, Nintendo announced the Super Nintendo Classic Mini back in June, and I pre-ordered one with the hopes of getting it. But as you know with things like this, something can go wrong.

If you got one then you already know how fun it is, but if you haven’t here’s everything you need to know about it, including the unboxing.

Yellow Sweatshirt Fashion Trend: Autumn 2017

Thursday, 28th September, 2017

Have you noticed how much yellow is around right now!?

I love the yellow fashion trend for Autumn. It’s not a particular colour which is synonymous for Autumn, but it’s one which I have noticed over the past several weeks, and it’s one I really like. Now the colder weather is here it’s time to wrap up and layer up, and what better way than with sweatshirts!

There are so many different yellow shades and tones, from mustard to bright yellow and a more pastel, pale yellow, which is my favourite. I have spotted this trend, but there’s actually not a lot of choice out there.

My preference to sweats these days is sweatshirts over hoodies, but there’s still a lot of hoodies which menswear brands are releasing. Sweatshirts have regained popularity in the past year or so, and you can check out my sweatshirt guide for everything you need to know about sweats and how to style them.

If you are in the market for a yellow sweatshirt, check out my top picks below

Daily Products – Grooming Essentials: September 2017

Monthly Favourite Grooming Products

I hope you’re well!

So I thought I would share my grooming essentials, the products I’ve been using daily (or more or less daily) this month.

I am quite loyal when it comes to some products, I know what I like and usually stick to those. However I do like to change it up sometimes, and try out other products, especially new ones. Here’s what I’ve been using in September as part of my daily routine.

Daily Wash & deodorant

For the general daily wash I have been using No.7 MEN energising hair and body wash. It’s pretty decent, I can’t complain and have a nice scent. For a face wash I have been using L’Oreal Men Expert which I think is pretty good.

For deodorant I use an antiperspirant spray, and have been using Dove MenCare for a long time. The Clean Comfort is one of my favourites, not much of a scent other than a “clean” smell. This is perfect for my as I use aftershave as a daily scent.

Moisturiser

I don’t use my moisturiser as much as I should, and I have so many. The one I’ve been using lately is the Hydra energetic anti-fatigue moisturiser from L’Oreal MEN Expert.

Teeth

I use an electric toothbrush, Listerine mouthwash and for toothpaste I always use Blanx. I’ve been using this for years, I occasionally try others, but for the most part I always use Blanx. I really like it, although it’s pretty expensive.

Haircare

For washing my hair I use Head & Shoulders. Again, I am fairly loyal to this, I really like it, I think it works well, and leaves your hair fairly free of flakes you can get from using hair products.

Speaking of hair products, my favourite is 3D texture clay from Schwartzkopf, which I use when I go out or really want to make sure my hair is right. I have so many hair products which I use in some kind of rotation, but my texture clay is the go to product, it’s so reliable.

Shaving

King of Shaves gel really is the king. I don’t like foam, or other gels which foam up. The gel works really well, I’ve lost count of how many years I’ve used this for. Not only a good product, but at a good price too. My aftershave balms have been getting a good run out, I’ve been using lots of different ones.

Since I ran out of my usual balms I’ve been using some I’ve got from various aftershave sets, The latest I’m using is my Acqua di GIO from Armani. It good and has that nice scent too.

Autumn Fragrance

I wear a lot of different scents as you know if you read my fragrance reviews. I could have put so many here, but for my Autumn fragrances I’ve gone for Tom Ford Noir. This is one of my favourites, I really like it, and it works well for Autumn, and pretty much any other season too. It’s dark and sensual, so best for evenings.

Others which I could have easily featured are Molton Brown Absolute Tobacco, Viktor & Rolf Spice Bomb, MR Burberry, and so many more.

That’s the products I’ve been using this month. I may change up some products for next time round.

What are your favourite products? Do you have any recommendations?

Men’s Essentials: My Everyday Carry [EDC]

Friday, 22nd September, 2017

Just The Essentials

I’ve seen a few people talk about their EDC, which (apparently) is an acronym for Every Day Carry, i.e. the essentials that men walk around with in their daily life. What do you usually carry around? What can’t you leave the house without? I’ve done a few posts like this before, but I’ll have a bit of a refresh and show you what I carry, and it’s not really a lot! 😀

For some people they use this as a photo opportunity to show off all the crap they have, and try to wedge it into the photo so it looks good. For the usual lifestyle stuff, I don’t think you really need to carry a lot, not in Newcastle at least. I’ve seen a few people who talk about penknives and other things, I guess they’re American or live out in the country, because there’s no chance you need something like that in your actual every day life.
