You can check out my older guides from Christmas past in the 2016, 2015 and 2014 guide, but this is all about 2017, and so here’s my guide and tips for this year!
What Day Is Christmas Jumper Day?
Christmas Jumper Day is Friday 15th December 2017, where you can not only wear a cheesy novelty jumper, but also you can donate to Save The Children if you want to show your support to the charity.
Once again I am taking another look back at one of my older fragrances. Last time round I was looking at Kokorico from Jean Paul Gaultier, and this time it’s another one which I’ve hardly used, it’s Ultraviolet MAN from Paco Rabanne.
This one was another blind buy for me. I’ve had Paco Rabanne scents before this, and other’s since, including the infamous One Million and Invictus which is one of the most popular scents for the past few years. Since it has so much pedigree in colognes, I thought getting this without smelling it first would be fine, but it’s never been much of a favourite.
The bottle is pretty cool. It’s rectangular with plastic chrome, purple and a glass back. It works by squeezing the purple like a trigger, and the scent then sprays out. I love the bottle for it’s originality, there’s no other bottle like this which I own.
But once you get away from the bottle you need to have a good scent to go with it, and it’s not my style.
It’s quite hard to describe this one. It’s really sweet, and it does smell ‘purple’, like the bottle. How can I explain that?
It smells quite dry and powdery, and is a sweet style of scent. It’s not very musky, like a traditional masculine scent, nor is it fresh, or citrus-like. It’s not an unpleasant smell, but it doesn’t really stand out.
Where I like to wear something which is light, fresh or citrus through the day, this is not that. A great evening scent for me is dark and inviting, and this is not that either.
So it’s not really a stand out scent, and doesn’t really fit into any kind of category for a fragrance, which could be a good thing if it were a brilliant smell, but sadly it just isn’t anything special.

Several weeks back I heard about something new brewing at MR. Porter, it was a new collection not only being sold by the luxury online retailer, but also designed by them. This is MR P., and it officially launched online yesterday.
You probably don’t need me to tell you about MR. Porter; Which is one of the homes to rare, sought after, expensive or luxury clothing labels in menswear, where you can find everything from Balenciaga to Vetements to Acne Studios, as well as street wear premium labels such as Common Projects, Adidas Originals and Scandi style from brands like No Nationality. The campaign said that it would be a range of clothes that they have themselves always wanted, stylish and understated, affordable but made to the highest standard. Here’s my picks from the 50+ capsule collection.
Early yesterday morning Adidas released the new kits for next year’s World Cup including the official unveiling of the Spain shirt. Most of the other kits from Adidas were also announced, including Germany, Argentina, Sweden, Russia and more. The kits have gone all 90’s, with inspiration taken from various retro kits from the 90’s and incorporated into the new kits for the World Cup next year.
So for film night this time round I watched Vacation. It’s a remake, or sequel, or successor, or whatever you want to call it, from the original, National Lampoons Vacation. I love the original, and plenty of films from the original series which starred Chevy Chase, the best ones being the original, Christmas and European vacation in the series, and the Vegas one wasn’t too bad either. As with everything that gets remade, they just don’t make them like they used to, so although I wanted to watch this, I wasn’t holding my breath for it being brilliant.
I have a few suits…In fact I probably have too many if I’m completely honest, considering I don’t wear a full suit all too often (I love just a blazer or jacket though), I’d say that I possibly have more than I need.
As you’ll know from reading my blog over the past year or so, I’ve got a new found love for socks. Socks have always been an essential item, but recently they’ve taken on a whole new persona for themselves. No longer are they that boring item which you don’t really care about but buy out of necessity, but a stylish item of it’s own to team up with the rest of your outfit. I have got on board with the sock trend, and have quite a few pairs from different brands, but there’s a new brand which is doing something I’ve not seen before, that’s prince + pete.
In the Spring there was Made Of Instinct, and now ready for Autumn and Winter there’s a brand new scent from David Beckham, called Respect. I love a scent for this time of year, so I was excited to give this one a try and see what it was all about.
First of all as always I have to talk about the bottle. The first thing which hits you straight away is the colour of the bottle, which is a polished silver mirrored design. Square in shape, the bottle has a waves or rippled effect coming in from the bottle corner, edging out into a smooth silver with the David Beckham Respect branding clean in the corner.
What does it smell like?
It’s a masculine but modern type of scent, which is very slightly woody, but mostly aromatic with a real sense of the green citrus types of notes coming through. It’s very light making it inoffensive, and you can really get a taste of the zesty notes which are present in this. As this is quite a light fragrance, this would be suitable for day wear as well as wearing it in the evening, in both a formal or casual setting.
This is definitely a one for the younger guy, the scent has a real youthful feeling to it, but comes with a contemporary edge giving it a refined character.
Respect is a very pleasant fragrance, with no overpowering notes it has a nice overall smell. It comes in at a very reasonable £33.95 for a large 90ml bottle, or £24.95 for a 60ml bottle. Definitely worth a try if you’re looking to add to your fragrance collection or get something new.

It’s a question and debate which has raged on for years, and it will probably continue to do so until the end of time. Everyone has their opinion, most have a preference, so I will be talking about which is best? Apple Mac or PC.
It’s a general computing question, but it’s also one bloggers often talk about, there’s always rumblings in the blogosphere about which is better, with everyone giving their less than experienced opinion.
Having a fashion blog like Michael 84 I want something not only powerful but stylish too. Design is important, Macs have them, but these days so do PC laptops too.
So for my last film night I watched a really old film which I hadn’t seen before, it’s older than I am! I’m talking about Risky Business which stars Tom Cruise, and this was one of his first films back in 1983.
