One thing I like about a quality timepiece is exclusivity, I want luxury along with wearing something on my wrist that others will not be wearing. Page And Cooper find quality watches made by small, independent companies which you’ll not find on the high street, utilize traditional watchmakers workmanship.
I have picked out a few of my favourites from their casual collection, which have caught my eye.
First up is the VELOCE from Autodromo. Available in a stainless steel or PVD case, the watch comes with a perforated leather strap and a Swiss movement. The unusual dial really caught my eye, which is inspired from a 1960’s rev counter and has an interesting date feature. The diameter is a nice 42mm in size and 10mm in thickness, with a stainless steel back. This comes in at £324.
Next is an elegant watch the Laco Vintage. The case is a gold coloured stainless steel and has a diameter of 38mm. It’s an automatic movement, the elegant face is complimented with a clean leather strap.
Last of these three is the Laco Absolute. Designed by Dietrich Lubs and Dieter Rams, they have produced an uncluttered simplistic timepiece and basic geometric shapes. It comes with a 39mm diameter and a rubber strap, stainless steel case and automatic movement.
The Stradale collection from Autodromo comes in three variations, and embraces Italian road-going, both in a road car and race car. The face draws inspiration from Italian sports berlinettas of the late 1950’s and early 1960’s, featuring a fascinating multi-layered dial. Made from stainless steel, The diameter of the case is 40mm, with the leather strap coming in different colours, symbolising luxurious leather car interiors of the time. The movement is a 24 jewel Japan-Made automatic movement, with a viewing window to the back of the case. These come in at £660.
The Hoxton by Garrick is the essence of a quality timepiece. It brings the absolute basic function and style together, creating a minimal design with sophistication. The British watchmaker uses longer than usual rhodium plated hour and minute hands which are made in-house. A traditional manual wind movement is used, with a 42 hour power reserve, with thermal blued screws.
The case is a nice 42mm and comes in stainless steel with a crystal sapphire front, and measures a thick 12.5mm. A choice of straps is offered, with a premium leather or alligator strap being available. The watch will set you back £2495.
All these watches featured are available at Page and Cooper in their casual collection here. If you are looking for a quality timepiece, there’s over 100 to browse from with budgets starting at around £150.
