There’s one thing that’s forever in my shaving regime and that is aftershave balm.
I got a Nivea set, and in there wasn’t the usual aftershave balm, but was an aftershave lotion.
I’ve been trying it out for the past couple of weeks, and this is what I think of the Nivea Men 2 Phase Aftershave Lotion.
If you read the blog you’ll know how much I talk about post shave balm being part of a shaving routine. I’ve always used it, couldn’t imagine not using anything and don’t understand how some guys can have a shave and not use any.
But this aftershave lotion is different. Rather than being a creamy balm, it is in fact a more watery based lotion.
To use it all you need to do is shake it up, put some in the palm of your hands and then apply to your face.
It has a light scent, nothing overpowering or anything like that. Just a light clean soapy style scent that’s not going to get in the way of any fragrances that I might wear.
Is it any good?
At first I was not won over, but this is possibly because I didn’t use enough. On my second try I used a bit more, and it had pretty good coverage.
Obviously something like this is really easy to use, you just apply it to your face and really rub it in.
Overall I think that it worked pretty well, and I didn’t get any irritation and my face felt reasonably moisturised.
But I didn’t feel like it was as good as the post shave balm. I just like that better.
It leaves the skin feeling a lot smoother and cooler, and for me the balm is better.
The lotion is still fine to use, but if I were choosing between the two, I’d always opt for the balm.
