It’s that time of the year again! Summer football is almost here, and even though it’s been delayed for a year, it’s almost time for Euro 2020!
As with all tournaments I got the brand new Spain kit, home and away. The home shirt has been available for over a year, with the away being officially unveiled more recently.
Here I am trying them on for the first time, and I have to say, they look great in person!
Spain Home 2020-21 Shirt
First off I’ll start with the home shirt. As you’d expect, it’s red, but not any old standard colour red. It’s probably a few shades darker than a traditional Spain red, and it comes with a pattern too.
There’s a cross type of pattern with other lines on the front, which makes it more of a tonal effect pattern rather than being a solid true red.
Having it in hand and wearing it, I think the design is pretty nice. I wasn’t won over with it when I first saw it in images, but I think that it looks very decent. As is usually the case, there’s a yellow trim with the Adidas 3 stripes on the shoulders and Adidas badge to the front.
The colourful Spain badge is back! The crest has been a tonal colour for the past few shirts. This time round the Spain badge is back in full colour for the first time in a long time.
On the back there’s a lion printed on the neckline, which is unusual, and I’ve never seen this before on a Spain shirt.
Spain Away 2021 Shirt
Now I have to talk about the away shirt. It’s white, but once again not a solid white colour. Spain have had plenty white shirts in recent years, many of the more recent away shirts have been white.
Just like the home shirt, this isn’t a sold colour white. It has an abstract pattern which they say “recalls the team’s most memorable moment”. I have no idea how this pattern does that, but I have to say the shirt does look good in person.
When I saw this shirt in the images I had my reservations, but now I have it and have tried it on, I think it looks really nice. It’s better than the previous away shirt, and I really like it.
There’s red and yellow stripes on the sleeves denoting the Spain flag, with grey Adidas stripes on the shoulders. The Spain crest is a two colour red and white tonal style, which has been the more modern way for several years.
This shirt also has the Lion print to the back of the neck of the shirt.
And there we go, both the home and away shirts for Spain for Euro 2020.
Of course I am happy with them, there’s something special about putting one of these new shirts on for the first time. It’s like being a kid back when we’d get new football strips ready for the new season.
I’ll be wearing these a lot in June and July. Let’s hope they’re lucky!
