Happy Saturday, It’s the start of another Bank Holiday weekend!
So a few days ago you may have caught on my Instagram stories that I was trying out some Rekorderlig Botanicals, and got some flavours which I haven’t previously had. If you’re unaware, Rekorderlig is a Swedish cider brand, I’ve featured them a fair bit on the blog over the years, and a while ago they released some new flavours, which they are calling botanicals.
I had a couple last year, but I found that they have some more flavours which I hadn’t tried. I thought I would get some bottles which would last me for a little while, they’ll come in perfect for the Summer, my birthday and of course the Swedish Midsummer (Midsummer’s eve falls on my birthday!).
The blackberry-violet-juniper was a flavour which I hadn’t tried before, so I was looking forward to giving that a go.
It seems like only a few weeks ago I heard about a new snooker game which was coming out, Snooker 19 which is officially licenced and the first “official” World Snooker game for a good while. I was excited about this, and couldn’t wait to get it, since it would be the first snooker game I’ve played since the Playstation/PS2 days, and first on the newer consoles.
It was released yesterday, and I got it! But how does this new game stack up to the games of old? Here’s my review.
I can’t believe I forgot to write about one of my favourite shows on Amazon which I watched at the back end of last year. I’m talking about the Spanish football documentary, Six Dreams.
As the name suggests, it follows the lives of 6 people involved in in the Spanish Premier League, La Liga, including 3 footballers. The main characters in the film are Iñaki Williams, Saúl Niñguez, Quique Cárcel, Amaia Gorostiza, Andrés Guardado and Eduardo Berizzo.
I found myself a new show on Amazon Prime… Four More Shots Please!
It doesn’t matter if it’s a film or TV show, I love watching coming of age style of films which is all about friends living live and having a good time.
My favourite from Amazon was Red Oaks, a brilliant show, and there’s been plenty more.
Have you ever bought a film not because of the plot or name, but because of the T-shirt that the people wear on the cover?
That’s why I bought Adventureland on blu ray! 😀
Years ago I saw this T-shirt which had the word games repeated on the front of it, but I never knew what it meant, where it was from, or anything about it. I saw that design a few times, and then I discovered it was from a film called Adventureland.
So I looked into the film, and found that it was a coming of age film, my favourite genre, so had to get it to see what it was all about.
Twitter, It’s not you, It’s me….OK That’s a lie, it is you. It’s just not working out any more. It’s over…
It’s 2019, and it is my 10th year of using Twitter for the blog, and probably 11th overall. I posted on the blog a few years ago that I thought Twitter just wasn’t the same, and in the past 3 or 4 years, I’ve used it less and less.
From the heights of posting 400 times a month in 2011 and 2012, to the lows of the past couple of years, sometimes barely making it to 50 tweets a month.
What has changed? Mainly two things. Myself, and the world.
So it was time for another film night, and I saw that Loving Pablo had been added to Amazon Video, so I decided to give it a watch.
It’s a film about the story of Pablo Escobar, told mostly in the point of view from Virginia Vallejo, a girlfriend of Pablo and famous journalist in Colombia. I have seen Narcos, the Netflix documentary series about the same story, which obviously had more detail since it’s spread over seasons and many shows, rather than this which is a 2 hour film.
The Grand Tour, or should we call it Amazon’s Hit Car Show (or Amazon Shit Car Show) is back for season 3, and it already caused a hilarious stir on the Twitter with it’s catchy hashtag, #Amazonshitcarshow. Of course it’s 2019, a time where ironic sarcastic humour is lost on most people on the Internet, many of which didn’t get the joke at all.
The first of 13 shows aired yesterday, 18th January 2019, and I watched it last night, and it was great! More of the same good old stuff from Clarkson, Hammond and May, with the same show doing the same things which we all love.
The first episode centred around Detroit and the car scene of which it was once the king of when it earned the name motor city, but in recent years has been in decline, filing for bankruptcy one it’s lowest points, with a lot of citizens moving away.
The boys were driving American muscle cars, with Hammond driving a Dodge Challenger Demon, May driving a Hennessey Exorcist and Clarkson driving a Ford Mustang. Clarkson and May have a city street drag race which Hammond has to watch as he can’t drag race on the streets at the request of Dodge. May wins almost all the drag races. They then go to a Theatre to do a noise test of their cars, with May wining again.
May and Hammond finally have a drag race on a airfield strip, where Hammond changes parts of his car to get it drag race ready, and beats May. There’s also a review of a super car, with the McLaren Senna being put through it’s paces by Clarkson at Thruxton.
As already mentioned the first show was great, and I am looking forward to next week’s show already.
My film night is back, and I decided to finally watch Paper Towns. I got this ages ago on blu ray, but since we had Christmas and there were a few things on TV I wanted to watch, I decided to finally sit down and give this a watch. Paper Towns is a coming of age film which stars Cara Delevingne and Nat Wolff, and since I love coming of age films, I was looking forward to watching this.
It is about a shy guy called Quentin “Q” (Nat Wolff) who lives across the street from Margo (Cara Delevingne) who he is friends with from childhood and who he really likes. They discover a dead body, and Margo discovers the man killed himself after his divorce. The film then goes through to the teenage years, at the final year of high school, where Margo and Q have drifted apart since then.
I’ve got the first of the items I’ve bought over Christmas, and they’re my jeans which are by Kenzo. I love denim, and usually buy at least one pair, although this year I’ve gone for a few, this being the first to arrive from my online shopping.
When it comes to denim, my go to brand is usually Nudie Jeans, and I’ve also got a good pair of Levi’s in recent times too. Over the years, I’ve bought a lot of designer brand denim, from Acne Studios to Balenciaga, Dolce and Gabbana and Dior to name a few, but recently stopped going for the designer brands over the proper denim brands.
