Yesterday saw the new smartphones from Apple get officially announced. As already speculated there are now 4 variations of the new phone. They are the iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max.
Will I be getting one and what are they all about? Here’s everything you need to know.
The iPhone 12 Design
The frame of the iPhone 12 is similar to the ones being used in the old iPhone 5. The frame sides are flat and more angular rather than bevelled, with a lot of people pointing out on social media the similarities as the old iPhone 5.
There’s a big notch in the centre to house the front camera, with tiny bezels around for a small footprint with large screen. The screen is made from what they call a Ceramic Shield for even tougher glass.
I really like the colour options this time round. There’s a lot of them.
For the 12 and 12 Mini there’s Black, White, Blue, Green and (Product)RED. For the 12 Pro & Pro Max there’s Graphite, Silver, Gold And Pacific Blue. Both the blues look really nice, with the gold also looking very slick.
5G As Standard
5G has arrived at Apple. The iPhone 12 will be the first to be a 5G capable phone. Good news if you live in a 5G area and are looking for that extra speed.
No Headphones Or Charger In iPhone 12 Box
If this is your smartphone, there’s some bad news. You don’t get a charger or headphones in the box.
My Opinion On The iPhone 12 Line up
It’s hard to have anything bad to say about the iPhone 12. I think they’re all pretty good, and if I were to pick one I’d want, it’s the iPhone 12 Mini. I prefer the “smaller” form factor, although in my opinion, it’s not actually small.
For me it’s around the perfect size, fits in one hand and goes into my jean pockets.
I bought myself the new iPhone SE earlier this year for that reason. I would say that the iPhone 12 Mini is at least 2-3 years too late – This is what should have came alongside the X, or at least the XR.
It’s kind of a blessing that it came now, as you get most of the good in terms of spec, but in the smaller (and less expensive) phone.
