In Vogue The 90's TV Series Review

If there’s one thing I love it’s a good series or box set, and ones which are documentary based are often so good to watch.

There’s a brand new series for me to get my teeth into, and it’s around fashion, so very on topic for the blog. It’s In Vogue The 90’s and it’s on Disney+ right now in the UK.

The first 3 episodes dropped on 13th September, and I’ve watched them.

Here’s what it’s all about if you want to know if it’s worth watching.

When it comes to documentary style series, I really love watching them. When they’re about popular culture, music, fashion or life, it’s right up my ally. I’ve seen tons of them, and loved most of them that I’ve seen.

This one combines a few things which I love. Culture, fashion and the 90’s, the best decade ever…At least that’s what I think. And when it comes to high fashion, Vogue and celebrity culture, it could be the best decade we’ve known.

The series really centres on a few things: There’s the magazine, but also fashion in the era, fashion designers, life in the 90’s and most of all the supermodels which defined the decade in fashion.

First of all you don’t need to be really into fashion or high end fashion to enjoy this series. If you grew up in the 90’s then you’ll know it was the decade where supermodels became household names, and the rockstars of the day.

There was models such as Linda Evangelista, Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell and Claudia Schiffer to name only a few, and designers like John Galliano, Stella McCartney and Lee “Alexander” McQueen, again just to name a few.

Then there’s Vogue itself, headed up by Anna Wintour along with Hamish Bowles as well as others.

There’s plenty of other designers, and celebs in the mix too, those who were fans of Vogue growing up and were a big part of their lives. Sarah Jessica Parker, Victoria Beckham, Tom Ford and Jean Paul Gaultier all make appearances, helping navigate through the 90’s of fashion and Vogue.

The episodes are so good, each one taking you through different situations and eras within fashion, whether that’s particular fashion shows or weeks, profiles of designers or defining periods such as grunge or what was dubbed ‘heroin chic’.

There’s 6 episodes in total, each one being around 45 minutes long making it pretty easy to watch a few in a row. So far I’ve watched 3, with 3 more to go when they’re released.

So for me, so far, so good. I can recommend In Vogue The 90’s if you love the fashion or model industry, or you just want a look at 90’s pop culture. It was such a great time to be alive, and it’s reflected in this series.

When it comes to good box sets to watch, In Vogue The 90’s is a good one for your Autumn binge watching list.
