The men's grooming tips which will make sure you look and feel great. Learn what you need for the complete men's grooming routine, including skincare, hair, fragrance and guide on keeping yourself looking fresh.
When it comes to looking after yourself and having a daily grooming routine, there’s nothing more basic than a body wash or shower gel. It can be a case of anything will do, and sometimes selecting the best, or the correct product can be overlooked.
We’ve all got our go to bottle for when we get washed, and there’s plenty of choice, from budget to mid range and even expensive designer brands.
With such a large selection, I’m going to go through which ones I like best, what are my go to shower gels and why I choose them.
There has been a men’s fragrance which has been around since late 2016, it’s one which a lot of people have been talking about and you have all asked me about this one a good few times, well it’s finally on the blog, Versace Pour Homme Dylan Blue!
The question is, how good is the award winning fragrance, and is it worth the hype? My friends at Versace have sent over a bottle, and I can now reveal everything you need to know about the scent.
I was having a look at the fragrances which I’ve featured on the blog, and I can’t believe that I’ve never given this one a feature of it’s own, it’s One Million from Paco Rabanne.
It was released back in 2008 which is when I got it, and so many other people did too. If this isn’t a favourite of many, it’s certainly one of those scents which has been bought by almost every man in the past 9 years.
I remember a girl saying that all men smell of 1 Million like it was a bad thing, because all guys smell the same. The good thing about that is guys were wearing it because it was such a nice fragrance.
It was heavily marketed, so a lot of the mainstream bought into it, and still do, which isn’t really a bad thing, after all it is a nice scent. But for the fragrance lovers like myself, it’s never a good thing to smell like someone else or go with the crowd, so I haven’t actually worn this in years.
I’ve had another go of this, the first time in I don’t know how long, and it hasn’t lost it’s touch. It still smells as good as ever. It’s inviting, and has just enough of a masculine kick to it to make it manly, while having a few lighter notes toning down the spicy nature just that right amount.
It’s definitely one for the night, out with the boys or with a girl, it’s perfect for Autumn or Winter, and the cooler conditions.
I can’t not write about the bottle…It’s obviously modelled on a gold bar, and it’s really striking and distinctive. It looks good on a shelf, and you’ll easily be able to pick it out.
Best season to wear – Autumn/Winter
Scent type – Spicy/Warm/Citrus
Age Recommendation – 18 – 30
Best Worn – Evening, Casual, Formal
Top Notes: Grapefruit, Mint, Blood orange Heart Notes: Rose, Cinnamon, Spice notes, Blond leather Base Notes: White woods, Amber, Patchouli

Ormonde Jayne London is a British perfume house which began with humble beginnings but was driven by passion to create luxury fragrances for men and women.
I have been lucky enough to give some of the scents a try, with their Travel Lab 2, a collection of the finest men’s fragrances.
The Travel Lab 2 contains 8ml bottles of 5 different scents, which are Ormonde Man, Isfarkand, Zizan, Montabaco and Nawab Of Oudh.
I have been trying out some new skincare products from new British skincare brand Proverb. They sent over two from their range, the Skin Definition Facial Scrub, and the Hydration Pro Moisturiser for me to try out.
Proverb takes a unique approach to skincare regimes, using a sports nutrition mentality and applying it to your skin. This can be attributed to the brand’s founders, Luke Sherriff, an ex-rugby pro, and Kirstie Sherriff, with over 20 years of skincare expertise.
It’s not just about the products, one of the key messages from Proverb is about having the perfect healthy and balanced lifestyle is key to good skin, something they’re calling a life-fuelled training program.
I tried out the products they sent over, and this is what I found.
Ted Baker have released three men’s fragrances which are inspired by three of the World’s most sought after elements, Copper, Silver and Gold. This is the Tonics Collection, and all three are different, but equally good.
A start to a new year means a new scent, and I’ve got one of the new kids on the block, Y by Yves Saint Laurent.
It was only launched in 2017, so is still a fairly new scent. Like me, you may have got this for Christmas, and if you didn’t you may be wondering what it’s all about, so here’s my take on the latest men’s aftershave from YSL.
Clinique For Men are grooming products which are fairly premium and I’ve had before and enjoyed using, and I got this set of products which come in the form of a scrub, face wash, moisturising lotion and shave gel.
The face scrub comes in a small bottle and is a product which I will enjoy using. I don’t think you need to use a scrub every day, it’s one of those products you can use a few times a week to keep your skin looking fresh, removing dead skin and everything bad. I am not a huge fan of a face wash, I don’t really see the need for one in the usual man’s lifestyle or routine, but I will give this one a try to see what it’s like.
I do like to use moisturiser, I think that most of them do a good job at keeping the skin looking nice and soft, and I am looking forward to trying out the shave gel too.
I have got so many new products to try it’s going to take a long time testing them all out, but I will probably report back and write about which ones I thought were the best.
What better way to get 2018 off to a good start, than with some new men’s products!
At Christmas I think every man get’s the same stuff…Scents or skincare products. One of the most universal gifts you can get for any man is men’s grooming, you can’t really go wrong with male products. Along with socks and underwear, it’s a standard kind of thing to get. I got quite a bit, as most lads tend to at Christmas, and all of this stuff will last me quite a while!
My go to shaving gel has been King of Shaves for years. I don’t actually know how long for, but it’s been a favourite for a while, and I got two bottles, it’s definitely not the first time you’ve seen it on the blog.
The same can be said about Post Shave Balm, which I swear by. Nivea MEN Post Shave Balm is one of the first ones I ever tried years ago, and never looked back since. I’ve been using quite a few different brands and products for post shave, all of them really good, but it will be nice to go back to this classic. I also got the skin revitaliser face cream which I’ve never used which I look forward to trying out.
When it comes to face scrubs I prefer to not use them every day, and I already have a lot, and now I have even more! I got these two from Bulldog, it may take me a while to get to them.
I got a new bottle of another go to product, this time toothpaste, and I use BLANX. This one is the white shock which I’ve never tried before, so it will be interesting to see how it compares to the original formula.
Finally I got a set from L’Oreal MEN Expert which contains face wash, shave gel, moisturiser and shower gel. I’ve had most of these products before, and I have to say that I love the Shave gel. It’s got Ice Effect, and I can honestly say that it feels so cool on the skin while shaving, and has a really nice scent. I used it last year and loved it, it really rivals my King of Shaves as my favourite shave gel. I don’t think I’ve used the shower gel before, I’ll be able to see what that’s like soon.
I got a few more grooming products which I will write about in more detail over the coming days/weeks. Let me know if you have any skincare or products tips for 2018 🙂
