A new TV series has come at the right time! I love re-watching my old favourites, but it’s always nice to watch something new. Gangs of London is on SKY Atlantic and was released on 23th April, but I’ve just been watching it now.
Here’s what it’s all about, with no spoilers for you! 😉
I am only 3 episodes in, but it’s been very good so far. The first episode is pretty big and heavy, just over an hour and a half long, so you’ll want to get comfortable. The basics of the show is that it’s about various different gangs in London (obviously!) which are all connected together in a variety of ways – The most obvious so far being that they’re tied to a main crime family in London, the Wallace’s.
The head of the family and guy who runs things is killed at the very beginning, Finn Wallace, and the story unfolds from there. That leaves one of his son’s, Sean in charge, with his first and only concern being to find who killed his father.
The rest of the characters are from various worldwide crime backgrounds, which all rely on the Wallace’s for their businesses which is mostly drugs moving in and out of London. There’s the Albanian mafia, Kurdish PPK, a traveller gang, Pakistani drug cartels and more.
It’s not just shot in a standard timeline. There’s a lot of back and forth from the past, to learn about all the different characters and how they’ve got to where they are in the present day. There’s also lots about each of the individuals and what their businesses involves, with shots from different countries to show all the different things they’re involved with.
It’s quite hard to write about without spoilers, so I won’t say any more 😉
All of the episodes are available on SKY right now, and it’s TV for binge watching. Or if you prefer you can watch one a week, with new eps on Thursdays at 9PM on SKY Atlantic.
