Film Night – Sin City: A Dame To Kill For

For film night I watched one of my new blu rays, and it’s something I’ve been wanting to watch for a while. Sin City: A Dame To Kill For is the follow up to the first Sin City film, which first came out 9 years ago. The first film was brilliant, and so the follow up had a lot to live up to. I heard that this had some mixed reviews, so I did not really know what to expect. Thankfully it is a good film, maybe not as good as the first, but it did have a lot to live up to.

It’s both a prequel and sequel, following the different characters from the first, either before or after the film. For example it follow on from John Hartigan’s (Bruce Willis) death and how Nancy (Jessica Alba) is not coping with it; But then also goes to what happens before Dwight’s surgery, and his relationship with Gail and why he needed the surgery in the first place. Lady Gaga makes a bit of a cameo appearance, and as always it’s a star studded cast with new members such as Jeremy Piven, Ray Liotta, Josh Brolin, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Christopher Lloyd and more.

If you liked the first then I would recommend it, I do like this as the follow up film, and I’ll be watching it again. It fills in lots of blanks from the first, and gives you insight into what’s happened to some of the characters from the first film. If you haven’t seen the first you should watch it, and then this one too! 😀
