Film Night: A Bad Moms Christmas

My film night is back!

I used to do a film night once a week, and since it’s been the Summer and we’ve had the World Cup and general Summer life, I haven’t sat down and watched anything new. I was browsing around Amazon Prime the other day and saw A Bad Moms Christmas, and since I liked the first one, really wanted to see this.

So it’s the sequel to Bad Moms which I saw a while ago, also on Amazon Prime. It’s a continuation of the first film, and as you’d have guessed it, it’s set over Christmas. It’s kind of weird watching it in August, but there you go 😀

All the moms are back, Amy (Mila Kunis), Kiki (Kristen Bell) and Carla (Kathryn Hahn), but the twist in this film is that their mothers are also in the film, and coming to see their kids and the rest of the family over Christmas.

It is a disaster in true Bad Moms style, the first one was all about them being terrible mothers, but now it’s the turn of their own parents being terrible, and having to put up with them over the festive period.

Amy’s mom, Ruth, is played by the brilliant Christine Baranski (who plays Leonard’s mother in The Big Bang Theory) and is always disappointed in Amy. Kiki’s mother is super clingy and is always smothering Kiki. Carla hasn’t seen her mother, Isis, in years, but unexpectedly turns up to see her.

Amy, Carla and Kiki then go to the mall Christmas shopping, and in true Bad Moms style, decide that they can’t face doing it sober, so get drunk in the food court.

If you like the first film, then you’ll probably like this. It’s very much more of the same, which isn’t a bad thing. If you’re looking for something nice and easy to sit down and watch with a few laughs, this will do the job.
