Remember that Tommy Hilfiger logo? If you were a child of the 90’s like me, you’ll remember that distinctive Tommy Hilfiger flag logo which was synonymous with the brand back in the good old days of the 90’s. As you’ll know if you’re a regular reader, I love that 90’s fashion is back (check my 90s fashion tips) and Tommy Hilfiger was one of the major brands back then.
A few brands have been doing re-releases and re-branding, going back to the 90’s, such as Calvin Klein, French Connection, Ellesse and Kappa, Tommy Jeans is the latest label to be making a very fashionable comeback, fashionably late of course 😉
The collection comprises of flag sweatshirts in a couple of colours, available for £90, as well as a couple of tees in a few colours, costing £40. The capsule collection is finished with a denim jacket with trademark logo to the back, costing £150.
The T-shirts are well worth a look at, if you’re into 90’s or street style these will go down well and be a nice little addition to your wardrobe, or if you’re thinking ahead to the Autumn/Winter, the sweatshirts look really good.
Brogues are a style of shoe which I have never previously owned. Brogues are all about the detailing, the perforations are what give a pair of shoes the brogue title. There’s many variations, from a full brogue/wingtips to half brogues and quarter brogue, they’re defined by the amount, and style of perforations which are on the shoe design.
Spring is now in full swing, which means warmer weather, but it’s also the time of April showers, and a jacket or coat is still needed when you want to go out. BHS have a great range of jackets for this season, and I’ve been working with them to let you know about their range of jackets for the Spring, and I have styled one up for the blog.
They want to produce the best fitting T-shirts which you’ll ever wear. That is the story of brand new UK brand, Micawber. As you’ll know if you’re a regular reader of Michael 84, I love T-shirts, and as I and everyone in the fashion industry will tell you, when it comes to clothing, the fit is everything.
If you’re wondering where the name of the brand comes from, it’s to represent the perpetually optimistic view on life shared by the brand’s namesake in David Copperfield. Micawber was founded by Thomas Elliott, and was born out of frustration when he finally wore out his favourite T-shirt, and could not find a suitable replacement which had the same quality and fit. Micawber was born with these two core principles in mind; To produce the best fitting T-shirts made from luxurious cotton for a premium look and feel. The guys have taken time and gone to considerable lengths to create the best fitting tees possible, measuring hundreds of men to work out their fit portfolio for the different cuts they’ll be offering.
The first cut from the line is the Finch, named after Atticus Finch, hero of To Kill a Mockingbird, a man who stood up for the rights and freedoms of minorities in fictional Maycomb County. It’s available in three staple colours, blue, white and grey, and is cut with slightly wider shoulders, mid-bicep sleeves and a slightly longer cut, which gives a slim silhouette. The design is finished with a small embroidered branding logo to the front breast. These are available in sizes Small to Large, and cost £30.
Coming soon to the line are “The Buchanan” and “The Steerforth”, which will add different cuts to the Micawber range.
I really love suede jackets as a fashion trend for the Spring, as well as suede for Autumn. In terms of the weather, Autumn and Spring are the perfect seasons for wearing a Spring jacket. It’s not cold enough for a Winter coat, and it’s not quite hot enough for a summer blazer or jacket.
The only thing you have to be careful about is rain, suede’s natural enemy, although there are suede protectors on the market which you can get from a variety of places.
I used to love the Adidas EQT range when I was a kid, and it’s back in a truly Adidas Originals trend. The first thing you’ll notice about the range is that it retains the trademark Adidas Equipment green. This green is what Adidas call sub-green, and is a very distinctive green, sort of like a teal colour and is synonymous with the collection. The 90s trend is back with a T-shirt, windbreaker, sweatshirt and track jacket, all you need to get some Springtime running or training outdoors.
If you didn’t know, 26th March is Air Max Day. For the past couple of years I have got on board with it, my Air Max Day 2015 and Air Max Day 2014 posts have a lot in them, and for a couple of years I’ve got myself a pair of Air Max for the day. As a kid Nike Air Max were the trainers to have, so most people had them, including myself. I have no idea how many of these trainers I have owned over the years, but I got out of the trend in my early 20’s, and only recently got myself a few pairs, only 2 or 3 years ago.
Since then I’ve gone on and got a few really nice pair, as you can see here. This year I did not bother getting any, because I think I have enough (for now, haha!). I have all the bases covered with my Air Max 1, Air Max 90, Air Max 95 and Air Max 1 Ultra Moire, I really love them all.
Styling the Air Max Ultra Moire with Selvedge Nudie Jeans, Prada white T-shirt and Selected Homme leather jacket.
I really love GANT, they make some really nice men’s fashion, and I’ve had some really nice things from them including this cream cable knit, a couple of shirts and I have featured them in my spring knitwear guide too. For the Spring/Summer season, they have released their updated collection, filled with bright and vibrant style, and perfect if you’re looking for an upgrade refresh, or just need to add a couple of items to your wardrobe.
TOPMAN recently launched their campaign for their suit styling this season, and picked out some of the biggest fashion bloggers in the UK to style a suit for their city. Great Britain, Great Suits, is all about different styles of suits in some of the hottest cities in the UK. These were London, Brighton, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, Glasgow and of course Newcastle.
Adidas have unveiled their Classic Team collection of designs in their fashion street wear, heritage Adidas Originals line. I really love this collection, which features all over print across the pieces which include a tee, sweatshirt, jacket and bag.
