Boss The Scent Elixir Review from Michael 84

When it comes to fragrances for men, Hugo Boss knows a thing or two. When they said they’d send over their brand new Boss The Scent Elixir for me to try, I had to give it a look.

Here’s everything you need to know about the brand new Boss The Scent Elixir, including what it smells like.

Boss The Scent Elixir is a brand new scent from Boss for 2024, building on the success of the original The Scent which was released back in 2015.

It’s described as a rich, highly concentrated interpretation of the original, and these are my thoughts on this fragrance.

What Does Boss The Scent Elixir Smell Like?

As soon as I tried Boss The Scent Elixir I immediately got the warm spicy tones of this scent. It’s in a dark red box and dark red bottle, and those colours show off what you’d expect the scent to smell like, and it delivers.

You get notes of red hot pimento, sandalwood and lavender as soon as you smell this, and it does smell really nice. The profile is inviting, the mix of the pimento chili pepper gives it a true warm and spicy feel, with the sandalwood giving it some soft woodsy notes.

Overall I like this scent and classify this as a modern warm and spicy fragrance

How Long Does The Scent Elixir Last?

Boss The Scent Elixir is described as an intense parfum, so you’d expect it to last quite some time. The Scent Elixir lasts around 7 or 8 hours, which is pretty good longevity, and what you’d expect from a fragrance with this profile as well as it being a parfum.

How Strong Is Boss The Scent Elixir?

When it comes to strength, Boss The Scent Elixir isn’t overpowering, but you can smell it. Those around you will be able to smell it for a few hours, while you’ll still smell it on yourself for hours later.

How Many Sprays Do You Need?

When it comes to the number of sprays, you can spray this the usual amount. I would spray this 7 times in the usual places: 2x neck, 2x chest, 2x wrists and 1x back of the neck.

This will give good coverage and ensure you get the most longevity from this scent. (check out where to spray your fragrance)

Boss The Scent Elixir Pros And Cons

Pros

  • New fragrance so not overly worn by others
  • A good scent for autumn and winter
  • Good longevity and performance

Cons

  • Best suited for an evening rather than a daily scent
  • Best suited for autumn and winter rather than the warmer months

The Scent Elixir Fragrance Bottle

The bottle for The Scent Elixir comes in the same shape as the original The Scent. It’s a glass cylindrical shaped bottle which has panel detailing and is a dark red translucent colour.

There’s BOSS debossing in the glass, with The Scent and elixir branding in gold to the front.

The bottle top is gold with a matching gold atomiser. This gives a nice wide spray to ensure good coverage when spraying.

I have a 100ml bottle, with a 50ml bottle also being available.

What Clothes To Wear With The Scent Elixir

I would describe The Scent Elixir as a smart casual to formal type of scent. It would work well with a sweater or jumper and a shirt, in keeping with the warmness of the fragrance.

When To Wear The Scent Elixir

Since The Scent Elixir is a warm scent, I always associate these with the colder months and an evening. With that said, I would wear this on an evening in autumn or winter, and think it’s a fantastic scent to wear when it’s cold.

Think sitting by a fire or around town on an evening, this scent feels like it would work well in both of those situations.

Who Is Boss The Scent Elixir For?

When it comes to who this is for, I would say that The Scent Elixir is best suited to a slightly older guy, or those who like this style.

The age of 21+ would be a rough guide, but in reality I would go even higher, 25+ as this feels quite mature. But the fragrance is not so mature that it’s exclusively for the over 30 or 40s.

Is Boss The Scent Elixir Worth It?

If you are looking for a warm spicy fragrance with hints of woodsy notes then I think that Boss The Scent Elixir should be considered.

If you like a kick of chili along with lavender and then some tone down woody notes from the sandalwood, this could be worth going for.

It’s definitely one to consider when thinking about warm fragrances, and should make the list of best Hugo Boss fragrances, if you like others from the brand.

Where To Buy The Scent Elixir

You can buy Boss The Scent Elixir from all the usual places, including direct from Hugo Boss. It comes in at £125 for a 100ml bottle and £89 for a 50ml bottle.
