The Best Blue Fragrances For Men By Michael 84

When it comes to what fragrances smell like, most people use the types of scents which they are.

That can be woody, fresh, citrus, floral and more. But there’s another way fragrances can be categories, that is by colour.

Sometimes when I think about a fragrance a colour comes to mind. This is largely due to the notes and what’s in the scent itself, but sometimes it’s just down to occasion.

A blue fragrance is quite a popular term, but what does it mean.

I’m going to go into what is a blue fragrance, and what are the best blue fragrances you can buy right now.

These are the scents that will have you smelling amazing!

What Is A Blue Fragrance?

A blue fragrance is an easy to wear light fragrance which has aquatic, fresh, marine or clean soapy style of smell to it. They’re usually inoffensive leading them to be mass appealing and can be worn in almost any situation.

You’ll often be able to tell if a fragrance is a blue or not simply by looking at the bottle.

A lot of blue types of fragrances also use a blue bottle, which is all part of the branding and marketing to let people know the type of scent which is inside.

A blue fragrance makes a great office fragrance, so if you’re looking for something to wear for work, blue is a good way to go.

What Are Blue Fragrance Notes?

Watery, ozonic, aquatic and fresh notes are blue fragrance notes.

To give fragrances more depth, light woody, spicy or citrus notes can also be added, including white musk, grapefruit, ISO Super E and Ambroxan.

The Best Blue Fragrances For Men

Yves Saint Laurent MYSLF EDP

Yves Saint Laurent Myslf Fragrance Review

One of the newer fragrances from the house of Yves Saint Laurent, but one which is already making it’s mark is YSL MYSLF. This is very much what a blue fragrance is supposed to smell like, with it’s fresh spicy profile and hit of ambrofix.

MYSLF is shaping up to be a modern classic already, with similarities to Luna Rossa Ocean and Dior Sauvage.

Top Notes – Calabrian Bergamot

Heart Notes – Tunisian Orange Blossom

Base Notes – Ambrofix, Patchouli

Prada Luna Rossa Ocean

Prada Luna Rossa Ocean

One of the newer fragrances is Prada Luna Rossa Ocean. When I smell this, I get that salty, watery scent immediately. There’s little wonder why this fresh scent is thought of as a blue fragrance.

I love it’s style, the fact it’s so inviting while still being quite understated and easy to wear.

Top Notes – Bergamot, Pink Pepper, Artemisia

Middle Notes – Lavender, Iris, Saffron, Sage, Suede

Base Notes – Musk, Vetiver, Caramel, Patchouli

Bleu De Chanel EDT

Bleu De Chanel EDT Men's Fragrance

When it comes to fresh spicy scents, Bleu De Chanel EDT is one of the best. I’ve bought myself a brand new huge 150ml bottle not so long ago, and I consider this to be a modern classic.

One thing I love about this is that it’s so universal. Something to wear on an evening, through the day, to the office, to the gym, everywhere. Bleu De Chanel EDT works in almost all situations.

Top Notes: Lemon, Mint, Pink Pepper, Grapefruit

Heart Notes: Ginger, Nutmeg, Jasmine, Iso E Super

Base Notes: Labdanum, Patchouli, Sandalwood, Cedar, White Musk, Vetiver, Incense

Versace Dylan Blue

Blue by name, but perhaps not too blue by nature is Versace Dylan Blue. A more aromatic and soft woody/spicy scent, this one only get’s the blue moniker because of it’s name and blue colour bottle.

But if you have to pick a colour from the colours of fragrances, blue is it’s best fit. With musk, ambrox and aquatic notes, it just about fits here.

Top Notes: Calabrian Bergamot, Grapefruit, Fig Leaves, Aquatic Notes

Heart Notes: Violet Leaves, Black Pepper, Papyrus Wood, Ambrox, Patchouli Bio

Base Notes: Mineral Musk, Tonka Bean, Saffron, Pyrogene Incense

Dior Sauvage EDT

Dior Sauvage Eau De Toilette Review

It may be another contention addition to the blue fragrance list, but one thing is certain, Dior Sauvage EDT is a beast of a scent.

Sauvage is a super seductive scent that I would recommend more for an evening than using through the day.

Unlike the others in the line, the EDT version is the most fresh with it’s heavy ambroxan and bergamot, making this fresh-spicy scent a good addition to any cabinet.

Notes – Bergamot, Ambroxan, Geranium, Pepper, Lavender, Vetiver, Patchouli

Armani Aqua Di Gio Profondo

Armani Acqua Di Gio Profondo EDT

My favourite from the Acqua Di Gio line, the blue scent that is Acqua Di Gio Profondo.

Watery, aquatic but marine-like in it’s nature, it’s a fantastic reach when you want something fresh and inviting. This one is another which is so universal, an all rounder that just makes you smell good.

Top Notes: Bergamot, Green Mandarin

Middle Notes: Rosemary, Lavender, Cypress, Lentisk

Base Notes: Patchouli, Musk, Mineral Amber Accord

Mont Blanc Explorer

Mont Blanc Explorer EDP Fragrance

When it comes to great smelling scents for not too much money, Mont Blanc Explorer fits the bill. It’s an eau de parfum and it smells very similar to Creed Aventus, which I will get on to.

That means it’s a great scent to wear, inoffensive and is going to get compliments.

Top Notes: Bergamot, Clary sage, Pink pepper

Middle Notes: Vetiver, Cocoa, Leather

Base Notes: Ambrofix, Patchouli, Akigalawood

Creed Aventus

Creed Aventus

There’s no doubt that Creed Aventus is a good scent, but with the emergence of other’s it’s kind of lost it’s lustre.

Still, when it comes to fresh cirtus and spicy types of scents, it can fall into the blue category because of it’s inoffensive and inviting nature. You can’t go wrong with it, if you’re willing to part with the cash that it.

Top Notes – Blackcurrant, Italian Bergamot, French apples, Pineapple

Middle Notes – Rose, Dry birch, Moroccan jasmine, Patchouli

Base Notes – Musk, Oak moss, Ambergris, Vanilla

Verdict

And there you have it, everything you need to know about what is a men’s blue fragrance, and the best ones you can buy right now.

When it comes to men’s fragrances you should own, there’s no doubt that having a blue scent is something you’d want to own.

Versatile, inviting and inoffensive, those are just some of the key features of a blue fragrance.
