Armani Acqua Di Gio Parfum Review – Here’s How It Smells

Giorgio Armani and in particular the Acqua Di Gio line of fragrances has always been a big favourite for men. The original eau de toilette is a classic and still loved today, and one of the biggest favourites was always Profumo.

In 2023 Armani released a new scent which many say is to replace Profumo, this is Acqua Di Gio Parfum.

I recently got this for Christmas in 2024, and will be using Acqua Di Gio Parfum going into 2025 and beyond.

Here’s what you need to know, including what Acqua Di Gio Parfum smells like.

What Does Armani Acqua Di Gio Parfum Smell Like?

As soon as I smell Acqua Di Gio Parfum I am hit with a blast of citrus and aquatic marine notes from the off. It’s an incredibly strong hit, more of a lemon like citrus from the bergamot which is combined with a marine like note and light woods.

This gives a fresh spicy feel to the scent, but for me, the citrus is the most notable smell from this.

It’s a really nice smell, but if you’re not too familiar with very strong but rounded citrus fragrances, it may come as a shock, as it’s that strong.

How Long Does Armani Acqua Di Gio Parfum Last?

When it comes to performance, this scent is a beast. Acqua Di Gio Parfum lasts over 9 hours on my skin, which is a long time for this fragrance profile. It is a parfum which you would expect to last a long time, and it does.

How Strong Is Armani Acqua Di Gio Parfum?

As already mentioned, Acqua Di Gio Parfum is a strong scent. There’s no doubt that you’ll smell it on yourself, as will others around you, and be able to smell it for quite some time.

It’s a strong scent, with the top note lasting for quite a while.

How Many Sprays Do You Need?

When it comes to spraying this fragrance, I spray the usual number of times in all the same pulse points. I will spray 7 times, the wrists, neck and chest.

But with this being so strong I could get away with only 1 spray to the chest if I wanted, or not bother with spraying the back of the neck.

Armani Acqua Di Gio Parfum Fragrance Bottle

The Acqua Di Gio Parfum bottle follows in the same style as the rest of the line from Giorgio Armani. It’s a tall rounded rectangular style of shape, with smooth curves and made from chunky glass.

The glass is in black with a gradient to a clear colour at the bottom, with it being translucent letting light shine through. The branding to the front is clean, with the wording in white and the Parfum and Giorgio Armani name in black to the bottom.

The top comes with the GA logo and is magnetic, giving it a more premium feel. The atomiser is good, giving a nice wide spray, and comes with the GA logo to the top of it.

I have a 100ml bottle, with 30ml and 50ml bottles also being available.

What Clothes To Wear With Armani Acqua Di Gio Parfum

Acqua Di Gio Parfum is a premium style of scent, but it can work in a number of situations, meaning that the dress code for this can be quite varied.

It could be worn as an office fragrance, so with a suit or in a smart casual setting with a clean shirt. It’s also light enough to be used in a casual setting, this could be in the city during the day, the beach or the gym.

When To Wear Armani Acqua Di Gio Parfum

Acqua Di Gio Parfum is a well rounded fragrance that can be worn most of the time, as mentioned. Formal or casual, and in all seasons. It could be worn on a night, although personally I have better options for an evening scent.

For the optimal setting, I would suggest either formal or casual, and in the warmer months of spring and summer being the best time to wear this one.

Who Is Armani Acqua Di Gio Parfum For?

Once again being quite a versitile scent, Acqua Di Gio Parfum can be enjoyed by all men. I would say that this works for anyone over 18, it’s not too youthful for teens and is quite strong, but older than that and it works.

It will work right up to older guys, going to work or looking for something fresh to wear out of the gym.

Is Armani Acqua Di Gio Parfum Worth It?

If you are looking for a daily scent or something strong to wear during the daytime, I would say Acqua Di Gio Parfum is worth it.

It’s an incredibly pleasant smell, and is timeless meaning it’s not a type of scent that’s going anywhere.

You can buy Acqua Di Gio Parfum from all the usual places which sell fragrances, including Fenwick, John Lewis, Fragrance Shop, Perfume Shop, Boots and of course direct from Armani Parfums. It comes in 30ml, 50ml and 100ml bottles, with the rrp being £85, £99 and £110 respectively.

I have the 100ml bottle, and at those prices, it represents the best value by far.

Verdict

Acqua Di Gio Parfum is a brilliant fragrance for the daytime, and I will be using it in my rotation for years to come. This makes a good modern replacement for the original Acqua Di Gio EDT, which still holds a place in my heart as one of the best of all time.

But if you want to replace your original with something a little more modern and a lot stronger, Acqua Di Gio Parfum would be a great choice. This scent makes a good signature fragrance for men, and is universally liked.
